BWA Contemporary Art Gallery in Katowice

This publication is not only a presentation of the artist's selected works, but also a “dictionary of  Berdyszak's art and concepts”, edited by Dorota Folga-Januszewska. The dictionary reveals a manner of embracing the world using artistic methods — it is an attempt at recording laws that govern the universe of art. Each notion is first briefly explained from the 'outside' by Folga-Januszewska, and is followed by a quotation from a text by Jan Berdyszak and a list of works which visualise the previously described items, thus providing them with a dimensional view. The book also contains a text by Zuzanna Bartošova “Drawing and Graphics by Jan Berdyszak”, a transcript of Jadwiga Bednarska's interview with the artist, a list of Berdyszak's artworks on display in the Silesian Museum, samples of his most important series, sketchpad notes, a list of individual and group exhibitions, a list of collections featuring the artist's works and installations, as well as bibliography and timeline at the end of the book.
