PORCELAIN DECORATIONS workshops — Polish folk patterns

Polish folk patterns are not contained only to the Kurpie or the Kashubia. The region of Silesia is also rich in local traditions and ornamental design. This workshop aims to present the technique of making designs from the Opole area, which is mainly known for stylish porcelains that our grannies kept in dining room sideboards. We will show you how you can use traditional folk patterns to create modern fashion.
Included in the workshop are all materials, such as tools and paints, which you will need to complete your design. After being fired in the kiln, the mugs or plates made by the participants will be theirs to keep and take home — for future generations to admire their work.
Please be warned that your manual abilities will be exercised to the limit. Expect blood, toil, tears and sweat. And mind you — turpentine is no sweet smell. However, if you are not easily discouraged, you will have a chance of mastering the basic technique of this wonderful folk art and perhaps... even find employment as one of our workshop instructors.
Because we will be using turpentine, this workshop is not recommended for pregnant women or children under 11 years of age.
