AFA: camera obscura — take a picture using a biscuit tin Just imagine, you can actually take a picture using a biscuit tin! Hard to believe? But true. This is how the history of photography began. The first camera...

‘The camera is not only an extension of the eye, but of the brain. It can see sharper, farther, nearer, slower and faster than the eye. It can see by invisible light. It can see in the past, present, and future. Instead of using the camera only to reproduce objects, I wanted to use it to make what is invisible to the eye, visible.’
Wynn Bullock

More and more people become allured by photography – the magic of recording fleeting reality. But to be able to freeze a moment by means of light imprint on the film, one needs skills and knowledge, as these will contribute to conscious picture taking.

So we are happy to announce that we have created a new educational panel Snapshotville, where we are able to cater to those who wish to improve their skills under the guidance of professional photographers. Some sessions will be conducted in the form of workshops with a focus on taking pictures, using photo editing software and preparing pictures for print. These will be accompanied by lectures and plein-air outings with photography artists (Bartłomiej Barczyk, Joanna Nowicka and others). As the finale of the sessions, a selection of the best plein-air works will be shown in an exhibition in the BWA Gallery in 2013.
